Don’t miss one of Uniontown’s hippest and most unique places to visit, The Tech Room Web Café! Computers, Internet, Repairs, Specialty Coffees and Baked goods and more! Owned and operated by Jeremy and Faith Barnhart, who moved from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada; These two are not your average couple!
Both are artists and musicians and are constantly blending their ideas and concepts of business and creativity to bring something extremely different to the downtown and with the amount of ideas and goals these two have there is absolutely no lack of interesting things happening and the stories they have about their adventures simply moving here would make a whole novel!
“We absolutely love having a shop downtown; There’s something fun about being the “odd ones IN” in the area and the people are just great. Coming from an extremely deep-rooted “arts” community, we are really excited about the “scene” in Uniontown and Fayette county in general because the potential for growth is showing itself every day”.
Faith Barnhart was involved with Carolyn Quinn in the revitalization of “story square”. The beautiful mural that now greets the downtown visitors was hand-painted by both Carolyn Quinn and Faith soon after Jeremy and Faith’s arrival to Uniontown,
“It was an absolute pleasure working with Carolyn. She’s wonderful and an excellent painter! It was many sleepless nights, but I think the entire project looks wonderful”.
Faith has also been sharing her gifts in art with hand crafted portraits, theatre makeup, manicures and pedicures and more. Songwriter, singer, Faith, like Jeremy, also loves skateboarding, snowboarding, and hopes to see changes in the community to open the doors to these activities in the city through skateparks, competitions and the list goes on.
Jeremy is no stranger to the arts as well; CEO of GoldiRock Records and GoldiRock Entertainment as well as an accomplished musician, artist and writer, he believes there is plenty of room for growth in the Fayette county area, and perhaps with some motivation there could be some major “leaps” in the very near future to do with music and art in the area:
“First, it’s with great pleasure to be able to know and work with the guys from Etiera. Their devotion and pure love for music is an inspiration. It’s refreshing to see a group with so many talents that are completely void of carrying the burden of being egoistic. GoldiRock Records released “ETIERA”, the group’s debut 6 song album, October 13th! We are actively working on getting more functions for people in the arts and music community going and very excited to be bringing a Full Featured venue to the area sometime within the next year! We are eager to completely go 110% in getting things rolling. There is so much talent coming from the area that people sometimes overlook simply because they aren’t “into that scene” or there is simply NO marketing to really let people know where and when things are happening, but we’re going to help change a lot of that. GoldiRockEntertainment.com is growing to fill this void.”
Jeremy made mention of only a TIDBIT of the things they are actively working on bringing to the area, which include: TBA LOCATION: Full featured venue with their recording studio, and more. TBA LOCATION: Music lessons in guitar, bass, drums, etc. catered recitals for the youth that learn music from GoldiRock Studios. POSSIBLY @ THE TECHROOM: Bookstore and a place to buy used cd’s, records and local artists work. TBA: Natural Health and wellness “Body Shop” with soaps and various bath niceties. THE TECH ROOM: Music nights and jazz evenings.
“There are simply way too many things we’re trying to accomplish and to name them all would get pretty redundant, I’m sure.”
Jeremy has also been working on a few books and short film scripts and has made contact with those from the State Theatre regarding workshops for independent film!
“We would love to invite solo or acoustic acts into our cyber café in the near future! We are so used to “busking” back home that we want to encourage far more street acts in the area.”
By the way, “busking” is a typical term used in British Columbia meaning “street artist” or musicians and artists performing on the sidewalks! Jeremy states that it was strange to see barren sidewalks with no musicians, unless there was a specific function happening. This dynamic duo are two to watch out for! With the things they want to accomplish I think this area is in for an extremely exciting and wonderful ride, but don’t take our word for it!
